Bridging the Hunger Gap
Since 1937, the pillars of the Golden Gate Bridge have stood strong, surviving treacherous winds and a high-magnitude earthquake.
Alike this famous bridge, the Edmonton Food Bank is a pillar of the community that has persevered through many hardships to always be there for its city.
For this year’s competition, PCL Construction is building a 10 ft wide, 6 ft tall replica of the most photographed bridge on Earth, the Golden Gate Bridge. The structure will consist of hearty canned chili anchored at both ends by a land mass made of the food bank’s most needed items. Under the bridge, you will find a bountiful sea salt ocean (crispy minis) full of fish (canned tuna). With this CANstructure, PCL wants to help the Edmonton Food Bank bridge the gap by getting food to those in need and eliminating food insecurities in our community.
